About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen team at The Ambleside Inn, an award‑winning pub in the heart of the Lake District. You will work closely with the chef and front‑of‑house staff to deliver high‑quality dishes and maintain our high standards of service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and specifications.
• Manage your designated section, ensuring food safety, proper storage and accurate labeling.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and maintain a clean, organised workstation.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house and management to ensure smooth service flow.
• Assist with stock control, inventory checks and waste reduction.

Required profile

• Passion for food and a desire to develop culinary skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Either previous kitchen experience or currently studying hospitality/catering.
