Communication Officer – Building Safety Regulator

About the role

The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is seeking an experienced Communication Officer to help shape and deliver its communication strategy. You will work across campaigns, media, and digital channels in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, supporting the regulator’s mission to improve safety standards for the built environment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to setting and delivering the BSR communication strategy.
• Continuous media monitoring and reporting, proactively identifying themes, sentiment, reputational risks and media opportunities.
• Support the External Communications Team on media, PR, campaigns, digital, design and internal communications.
• Travel to the Bootle office at least two days per month and cover out‑of‑hours media duties on a rota basis.
• Work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with part‑time options available.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Communications Officer in a public‑sector or regulatory setting.
• Ability to work across campaigns and media in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment.
• Willingness to travel to Bootle and undertake occasional evening or weekend media duties.
• Current Civil Servants will transition to a non‑crown public servant role with access to the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
