Communications Officer – Project Communications

About the role

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Communications Officer to support the NEP‑Power project at its Redcar site. You will help deliver the project communication plan, ensuring stakeholders receive clear, timely information about this pioneering carbon‑capture power station.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the communications plan, producing plain‑English content and distributing it through appropriate channels.
• Maintain accurate stakeholder data and segmentation in line with GDPR.
• Create and manage a pipeline of site content, including photographs and updates.
• Coordinate community‑relations events such as exhibitions, meetings and liaison groups.
• Support site‑visit programmes to showcase project expertise and build local trust.
• Work with project managers and client service teams to resolve enquiries and complaints promptly.
• Ensure branding, hoardings and information boards comply with corporate guidelines.
• Write internal and external award submissions, case studies and other promotional material.
• Maintain communication tools and platforms (SharePoint, digital totems, distribution lists, presentation packs).

Required profile

• Experience in project‑based communications or stakeholder engagement.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise content.
• Understanding of GDPR requirements for stakeholder data.
• Proven ability to organise community events and site‑visit programmes.
• Collaborative mindset to work closely with project managers, operational teams and client services.
