Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer – Flight Physics

About the role

A vacancy for a Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer (m/f/d) has arisen within the Engineering Flight Physics Capability Teams at Airbus Civil Aircraft in Filton. The role supports the development and delivery of world‑class computational simulation tools for aerodynamics, contributing to aircraft design across the full flight envelope.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the industrialisation and validation of next‑generation in‑house CFD capabilities.
• Provide end‑to‑end support for transnational users, from ANSA meshing through CODA CFD runs to post‑processing.
• Perform complex aerodynamic, aeroelastic and aeroacoustic simulations for shape design and data modelling.
• Collaborate with research partners, supervise PhD students and act as a liaison between Airbus and external research establishments.
• Assess CFD tools by benchmarking commercial off‑the‑shelf solutions and developing proofs of concept.

Required profile

• Broad competence in applied CFD, able to carry out advanced internal and external flow studies (RANS, URANS, LES) on complex aircraft configurations.
• Strong knowledge of ANSA meshing, adaptive mesh techniques, CODA CFD chain and Aero CFD post‑processing.
• Experience installing, deploying, maintaining CFD tools and debugging advanced Python scripts.
• Ability to work within a transnational capability development team spanning Europe and India.
