Consultant Anaesthetist & Intensivist

About the role

The Kent & Canterbury Hospital is seeking a dynamic Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist to join its Anaesthetic & Intensive Care Unit. The role involves delivering anaesthetic services across a wide range of surgical specialties and providing critical care coverage within a six‑bed CCU and a four‑bed HDU.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anaesthesia for paediatric, vascular, endovascular, orthopaedic and urology lists.
• Undertake on‑call duties covering emergency theatres and the Intensive Therapy Unit.
• Support the Critical Care Unit, including patient management in the CCU and HDU.
• Participate in departmental education, audit and research activities.
• Contribute to appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training processes.
• Take on a SPA PA allocation and additional departmental roles as required.

Required profile

• Full GMC‑registered Consultant Anaesthetist with intensive care experience.
• Ability to work flexibly across adult and paediatric services.
• Commitment to teaching, audit and research.
• Strong clinical leadership and teamwork skills.
