Contentious Probate Associate (Partner level)

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Contentious Trusts & Probate Team in Taunton or Exeter as our ongoing success sees us looking to expand the team with flexibility to consider a hire from Associate to Partner level. You’ll be working alongside our Head of Department, Chris Green, a well‑respected leader in the field, advising and representing individuals, charities, executors and trustees in contentious trusts and probate matters.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of contentious trust & probate matters.
• Handling probate disputes involving wills, estates and family provision.
• Advising on inheritance disputes, estate challenges and trust litigation.
• Contributing to practice development through proactive client engagement and business development.
• Managing cases through negotiation and litigation.
• Supporting clients through sensitive and complex disputes.
• Reviewing documents and evidence, identifying relevant information and cataloguing it.
• Drafting legal correspondence and documents.
• Communicating effectively with clients, opposing parties, counsel and expert witnesses.

Required profile

• Proactive, pragmatic and commercially minded with impeccable interpersonal skills.
• Real passion for contentious probate and trust litigation.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a growing team.
• Desire to contribute to an exciting period of growth and expansion.
