Contract Project Manager – Safety-Critical Software

About the role

We are supporting an innovative engineering organisation in Bristol that develops safety‑critical software for the aerospace and regulated engineering sector. This contract role focuses on improving project governance, planning discipline, risk management and delivery visibility across complex technical workstreams.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance project planning, tracking and reporting processes.
• Establish and embed standardised project management methodologies.
• Strengthen risk, issue and change management practices.
• Improve project governance and delivery controls.
• Support the development of existing project management capability.
• Collaborate closely with software engineering teams delivering complex products.
• Drive greater predictability, transparency and confidence in project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software development projects in aerospace or safety‑critical environments.
• Strong project governance and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience improving delivery frameworks and controls.
• Agile delivery experience within sprint‑based development environments.
• Ability to influence and mentor project teams.

What we offer

• Daily rate of £430‑£475 (outside IR35).
• Hybrid working – 4 days onsite in Bristol.
• Initial 6‑month contract with the possibility of extension.
