Corporate Reserving Actuary

About the role

AXIS Capital, a global provider of specialty lines insurance and reinsurance, is looking for a Corporate Reserving Actuary. The role sits within the reserving function and supports the Group's quarterly reserving process, peer reviews of segment reserves and other actuarial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in producing the AXIS Group quarterly reserving estimates.
• Assist with the peer review of segment quarterly reserve analyses and validation of the selected actuarial estimates.
• Assist with the peer review and validation of segment key actuarial assumptions and methods.
• Coordinate reserve meetings for the Group quarterly reserving process.
• Carry out additional project work, including deep dives of insurance and reinsurance lines of business.
• Support the annual planning exercise, working closely with Pricing and Risk functions.
• Provide support to other Group functions (Finance, Risk, Investments) as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, Risk Management or a similar field.
• At least five years of industry experience in an insurance, reinsurance or consulting background in reserving, pricing or modelling roles.
• Nearly qualified or qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent).
• Ability to work occasional extended hours and travel on business as required.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel, Access and VBA; SQL Server, ResQ, Tableau and/or Oracle or similar is a plus.
• Management information systems experience (database and application development) is a plus.
