About the role

Our client, a respected specialist law firm, is seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join their team in Hoylake, Wirral. The role involves managing welfare and Section 21A cases for vulnerable adults, ensuring their rights are protected throughout the legal process.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload focused on welfare and Section 21A Court of Protection matters.
• Advise and support individuals lacking capacity on care, treatment, and living arrangements.
• Conduct visits to care homes, hospitals, and other settings as part of case preparation.
• Prepare and draft Court of Protection applications, witness statements, and supporting documentation.
• Represent clients in Court of Protection proceedings and attend hearings alongside counsel.
• Provide advice on capacity assessments, best‑interest decisions, and appropriate legal pathways.
• Ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection rules, and relevant legislation.
• Maintain accurate billing and case plans in line with Legal Aid Agency requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
• Minimum of 4 years post‑qualification experience handling complex Court of Protection matters.
• Strong background in welfare and Section 21A cases.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Legal Aid funding and case‑plan management.
• Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and meet competing deadlines.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building trust with vulnerable clients.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection rules.
• Experience with Legal Aid funding and case‑plan management.
