Cover Supervisor – Flexible Part‑Time Teaching Cover

About the role

We are seeking experienced educators, teaching assistants or youth workers to provide day‑to‑day classroom cover in secondary schools across Upminster and the wider Havering borough. Starting in September, you will step into classrooms when the regular teacher is absent, delivering pre‑prepared lessons and maintaining a safe, focused learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Accept same‑day cover assignments, being available from 7:00 am for short‑notice bookings.
• Supervise and deliver pre‑set lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students stay on task.
• Support pupils with set work, enforce behaviour policies and collect completed work for the returning teacher.
• Travel between multiple secondary schools in Upminster and Havering according to daily demand.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, tutoring or sports coaching.
• Morning availability to respond to cover calls and travel promptly.
• Strong classroom presence, clear communication and confidence managing groups of up to 30 students.
