Cover Supervisor – SEN Specialist (Part‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support schools across Bristol during teacher absences. The role is part‑time and takes place during normal school hours, providing a calm and structured learning environment for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes when teachers are absent, delivering pre‑set work and keeping students on task.
• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities tailored to SEN pupils.
• Provide targeted support, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
• Maintain records of student progress and assist with support‑plan implementation.
• Prepare students for tasks, including pre‑teaching and practical supervision.
• Conduct structured classroom observations and provide feedback.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Degree‑level qualification; SEN‑related training (e.g., Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support) is desirable.
