Criminal Duty Solicitor – Barrow-in-Furness

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Criminal Duty Solicitor to join our busy, employee‑owned team covering Barrow‑in‑Furness and Kendal. You will provide high‑quality legal advice and representation to clients at police stations and courts, managing a varied criminal caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Represent and advise clients on a wide range of criminal law matters.
• Attend police stations and courts as part of the Duty Solicitor Scheme.
• Manage caseloads efficiently using the firm’s case‑management system.
• Deliver exceptional client care and clear communication.
• Participate in the out‑of‑hours police station rota.
• Promote the firm’s wider legal services where appropriate.

Required profile

• Duty Solicitor accreditation and eligibility for duty solicitor schemes.
• Minimum 12 months’ experience in criminal law.
• Strong organisational and case‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and client‑service skills.
• Proactive, professional and team‑focused attitude.
