Criminal Justice Recovery Worker

About the role

The Forward Trust is seeking a compassionate and resilient Criminal Justice Recovery Worker to join the Medway RIVER Treatment and Recovery Service. You will support adults who have had contact with the criminal justice system, helping them access drug and alcohol treatment, reduce offending behaviour, and achieve lasting recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of adults referred from police, probation, courts, prisons and other criminal‑justice pathways.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, risk assessments and develop SMART recovery plans.
• Deliver high‑quality one‑to‑one and group interventions focused on harm reduction and behavioural change.
• Support service users in accessing housing, healthcare, employment, education and other community resources.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with probation, police, prison healthcare teams, courts and community agencies.
• Provide outreach services across community settings, probation offices and prisons in Medway and Kent as required.

• Compassionate, resilient and motivated to work with adults in the criminal‑justice system.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload, conduct assessments and develop care plans.
• Flexibility to work in varied community and criminal‑justice environments.
