Customer Service Assistant – Retail Store

About the role

We are looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, in a fast‑paced convenience store. You will be the front‑line contact for shoppers, ensuring a friendly, safe and efficient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and encourage feedback through surveys.
• Operate tills and process payments, including age‑restricted products.
• Stock shelves, replenish inventory and keep the store tidy and well‑presented.
• Assist customers at self‑service checkouts and answer queries.
• Follow health, safety and security procedures, wearing equipment where required.
• Support seasonal, community and charity events.
• Cover shift duties in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
• If the store includes a Post Office, handle its daily operations after passing required background checks.

Required profile

• Passionate about serving customers with pride.
• Reliable attendance and accurate clock‑in/out.
• Willingness to follow company policies and safety guidelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Willing to undergo a Post Office financial and criminal background check if applicable.

• Operation of POS (point‑of‑sale) systems.
• Cash handling and payment processing.
• Basic stock management and replenishment.
• Assistance with self‑service checkout equipment.
• Basic computer literacy.
