Cyber Security Analyst – Hybrid (South Wales)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join a leading utilities company in South Wales. Working within the cyber‑resilience team, you will support the Security Operations function and help strengthen the organisation’s security posture as it expands its IT and cyber‑security estate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the SOC with EDR and SIEM monitoring, incident detection and response.
• Gather evidence for security control frameworks and support compliance activities.
• Monitor, track and remediate vulnerabilities and security alerts.
• Conduct user‑behaviour analysis, awareness training and social‑engineering campaigns.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging threats and advise on mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Good understanding of SOC processes and incident‑response stages.
• Basic experience with SIEM platforms.
• Familiarity with leading endpoint detection and response products.
• Knowledge of global information‑security standards (ISO 27001, CIS, CAF, NIST CSF).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Required skills

• MS Sentinel, LogRhythm, AlienVault, Splunk (SIEM tools).
• Endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Attack and exploitation techniques, adversarial TTPs.
• Security tooling for risk monitoring and routine checks.
