Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Leidos is seeking multiple Cyber Security Engineers to work on‑site at its customer location in Huntingdon, East Anglia. The role requires Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and involves protecting classified and unclassified networks while collaborating with engineering and security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop creative solutions to complex technical security issues.
• Work with engineering teams to maintain required security posture against baseline standards.
• Coordinate with the Security Monitoring team to ensure logs are forwarded to the SIEM capability.
• Collaborate with customers and agencies to create policies, design processes and produce technical designs.
• Assess system vulnerabilities, implement risk‑mitigation strategies and validate secure configurations.
• Test security products and systems to detect weaknesses and maintain security‑enforcing functions.
• Provide operational and engineering support for both classified and unclassified networks.

Required profile

• Security clearance at DV level.
• Experience working on MOD or Home Office projects.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and communication abilities.
• Ability to advocate security best practices within a DevOps culture.

Required skills

• Network and system security knowledge: firewalls, IDS/IPS, micro‑segmentation, host security.
• Hands‑on experience with Trellix, Ivanti, ClearSwift and Yubikey.
• Understanding of secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 25).
• Identity and Access Management expertise: RBAC, ABAC, JWT, cookie‑based authentication.
• Incident detection and response in MOD environments.
• Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as NIST and CIS Benchmarks.
• Administrative‑level experience with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of SIEM integration and log forwarding.
