Data Centre Technician – AWS Operations

About the role

Amazon Web Services is looking for a Data Centre Technician to join its Data Centre Operations team in Slough. You will be the primary resolver for your support team, troubleshooting a wide range of infrastructure issues and ensuring the continuous operation of AWS data centres.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal Service‑Level Agreements.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and document findings.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
• Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the technologies you support.
• Act as an escalation point for junior technicians and provide guidance.
• Execute small‑scale projects independently and assist in planning larger local projects.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and provide shift coverage during emergencies.
• Travel up to 10% of the time for site support and project work.

Required profile

• Strong troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems.
• Ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues with minimal supervision.
• Innovative mindset with the capacity to make decisions and pay attention to detail.
• Willingness to take direction when required and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Capability to execute small projects and support larger initiatives.
