Data Engineer – Hybrid (Newcastle) – Azure SQL, Airflow, Python, Power BI

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a technology‑driven organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role is hybrid (three days onsite) and will focus on building and evolving a modern data platform, including a future migration to Microsoft Fabric.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data from multiple sources.
• Use Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration and scheduling.
• Work with Azure SQL and other cloud‑based data platforms.
• Perform data modelling, warehousing and optimisation.
• Implement data quality, governance and validation processes.
• Create Power BI reports and support business intelligence needs.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the migration strategy for Microsoft Fabric.
• Conduct ad‑hoc data analysis and drive platform improvements.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Data Engineer.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure SQL, Apache Airflow, Python and Power BI.
• Familiarity with data modelling, warehousing and ETL/ELT concepts.
• Ability to work with both technical and business teams.
