Data Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leading technology consulting firm in Newcastle upon Tyne, is looking for a Data Engineer to join their Data Analytics team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines that feed the company’s central data platform, ensuring data is reliable, available and of high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise sophisticated data pipelines to ingest data from external vendors, sell‑side partners and other providers.
• Contribute to platform enhancements, perform regular testing and troubleshoot issues to keep the system aligned with evolving business needs.
• Maintain the platform’s stability, monitor data quality and integrity, and ensure uninterrupted access to critical data.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve data accessibility, drive innovation and adopt advanced analytics technologies.

Required profile

• 2:1 or 1st class degree in Computing Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably within hedge‑fund, private‑equity or investment‑banking environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
• Self‑starter attitude, detail‑oriented and eager to learn new technologies.
