Data Journalist

About the role

The Data Journalist will lead the data and insights coverage for MCA, the hospitality‑focused publication within William Reed. You will turn complex industry data into clear, compelling editorial that informs a premium subscriber base about key trends in the UK hospitality sector.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the editorial direction of the daily digital newsletter, ensuring relevance and impact.
• Develop and pitch data‑driven story ideas, partnerships and original research opportunities.
• Own and evolve MCA’s data visualisation strategy, creating charts and interactive graphics.
• Build and maintain relationships with insight providers to secure exclusive datasets.
• Analyse financial disclosures and website performance data to uncover news angles and drive audience engagement.
• Represent MCA at industry events, contributing to speaker recruitment and programme development.

Required profile

• Proven experience turning data into editorial content for a specialised audience.
• Strong understanding of the UK hospitality sector and its key players.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast‑paced newsroom.
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
