Data Operations Associate - Distressed

About the role

Join 9fin’s dedicated Data Operations team in Belfast, supporting the distressed debt coverage universe. You will ensure high‑quality, timely data from US court filings and financial databases is entered into our proprietary platform, enabling clients to make fast, confident decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Extract and process distressed debt and bankruptcy filings from US courts, regulators and financial databases.
• Review, classify and structure large volumes of legal and financial documents, including Chapter 11 filings and restructuring plans.
• Maintain data integrity across the distressed debt coverage universe, flagging inconsistencies and collaborating with editorial and product teams to resolve them.
• Build structured records of debtor entities, creditor hierarchies and case timelines for active bankruptcy proceedings.
• Identify opportunities to improve data extraction workflows and tooling in partnership with content and technology teams.
• Support ad‑hoc data requests from journalists, analysts and client‑facing teams.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to large data sets.
• Comfort with legal and financial documents; exposure to bankruptcy filings or court dockets is a plus.
• Experience in data entry, data operations or research, preferably within financial services, legal or media.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage workload in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Willingness to learn new data management systems.
