Data Scientist

About the role

Prima is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Pricing & Underwriting UK team. You will work at the intersection of data science and insurance, using advanced analytics and machine learning to keep pricing competitive and risk under control.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business challenges into data problems and design practical, data‑driven solutions.
• Build and adapt predictive models, from traditional statistical approaches to advanced machine learning.
• Deliver actionable, production‑ready tools and processes in close collaboration with Machine Learning and Data Engineers.
• Leverage cutting‑edge technology and best practices to turn insights into business impact.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
• Exceptional quantitative, logical and analytical abilities.
• Growth‑oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn quickly and develop expertise in data science, programming and business.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and unit testing.
• Hands‑on experience with machine‑learning algorithms and predictive modelling.
• Understanding of statistical modelling techniques.
