Data Scientist

About the role

Kroo Bank is a digital‑first fintech that leverages data science to drive smarter decisions, improve customer outcomes, and build trusted products. As a Data Scientist you will partner with Product, Risk, Operations, Compliance, and Engineering teams to turn data into actionable insights across credit risk, fraud prevention, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Build, evaluate, and iterate statistical and machine learning models to solve business problems in credit risk, fraud, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define problem statements, success metrics, data requirements, and implementation plans.
• Conduct data exploration and feature engineering to uncover drivers of outcomes and improve model performance and interpretability.
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks, including baselines, validation strategies, monitoring metrics, and performance reporting.
• Support model deployment in production with engineering teams, contributing to reproducible pipelines and documentation.
• Monitor models in production, detect performance drift, and propose recalibration or retraining as needed.
• Design experiments, apply probability and statistical inference, interpret results, and provide clear recommendations.
• Identify data quality issues, support cleaning and normalization, and define standards for reliable datasets.

Required profile

• Experience building and evaluating statistical and machine learning models in a commercial environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data solutions.
