About the role
Chevron is looking for a collaborative and technically strong Data Strategist to support its Trading organization. The role bridges IT, Digital, and Commercial teams, ensuring data, tools, and analytics are reliable, well‑structured, and aligned with business strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the data strategy for trading and commercial teams, governing critical datasets across the value chain.
- Act as the primary interface between Business and IT, translating commercial needs into clear technical requirements.
- Partner with Digital, IT, and Data Engineering to shape data architecture, ingestion patterns, and governance frameworks.
- Own and maintain core analytical assets such as curated datasets, definitions, reusable code libraries, and foundational dashboards.
- Improve data quality, lineage, and controls to build trust and reproducibility.
- Enable adoption of AI and advanced analytics tools, championing best practices and process improvements.
- Promote a data‑driven culture through clear communication and strong partnership across trading, operations, and IT.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data strategy, analytics, data engineering, or commercial analytics, preferably in energy, trading, or asset‑intensive industries.
- Proven ability to translate commercial needs into technical requirements and communicate with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to structure ambiguous situations, and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Digital‑first mindset with interest in automation, data governance, and emerging AI capabilities.
