Degree Qualified Maths Teaching Assistant

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a motivated Degree Qualified Maths Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision school in Blackburn. This full‑time, long‑term position starts in September 2026 and offers a recent maths graduate the chance to gain hands‑on experience supporting secondary‑age learners who are below the national average.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging maths interventions for one‑to‑one and small‑group sessions.
• Build positive relationships with disengaged learners to rebuild confidence and enjoyment in maths.
• Support pupils with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans and those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Collaborate with the wider teaching team to ensure consistent curriculum delivery across the provision.

Required profile

• Recently completed a degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
• Prior experience planning and delivering maths content to young people.
• Driven, empathetic, resilient and passionate about inspiring students.

Required skills

• Ability to adapt teaching methods for pupils with additional learning needs or disengagement issues.
