Deputy Manager – Children’s Home

About the role

As Deputy Manager of a children’s home you will help create a safe, supportive environment where vulnerable young people can recover, build relationships and develop confidence. The role is ideal for an experienced senior residential support worker or an existing deputy manager looking to progress their leadership in residential childcare.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Home Manager in delivering high‑quality care and safeguarding for all children.
• Lead and motivate a team of residential staff, ensuring consistent practice and professional development.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including staffing rotas, risk assessments and compliance with Ofsted standards.
• Develop and implement activity programmes that promote wellbeing and personal growth.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and liaise with external agencies and families.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in residential childcare.
• Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Required skills

• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess risk and implement effective safeguarding measures.
• Organisational skills for managing schedules, documentation and regulatory compliance.
