Deputy Store Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Store Manager to support the General Manager in driving sales and overseeing daily store operations at our Zara location in Manchester. The role involves coordinating with product, operations and customer experience teams to ensure smooth store performance and high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Drive store sales and meet KPI targets while acting as the link between Product Managers, Ops Manager and CX Manager.
• Manage store organisation across floor, cash desk, stockroom and overnight areas, ensuring efficient tasking and adherence to operational standards.
• Oversee product flow, replenishment, fitting room and refunds, maintaining company standards throughout the store.
• Supervise training and usage of retail devices (ITX, iPad, iPod, item locator) and ensure proper maintenance of electronic equipment.
• Maintain stock levels, manage inbound/outbound movements, and optimise stockroom layout with the Operations Manager.
• Handle cash desk operations, security procedures and health & safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail store management or deputy role, with a strong focus on sales performance.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to manage schedules, payroll processes and recruitment in line with company policies.
• Commitment to health, safety and sustainability initiatives within the store.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the ITX retail system.
• Experience using iPads, iPods and item locator devices for sales and inventory tasks.
• Knowledge of RFID processes for product transfers.
• Familiarity with the Leap performance management application.
