Design Engineer

About the role

A motivated Design Engineer is required to join an exclusive global engineering manufacturing client. The role involves producing detailed designs for machinery, improving existing equipment and supporting modernisation projects across various sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Produce design schematics, assembly and detail drawings for specified projects and cable routing.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and prepare P&IDs using AutoCAD and other 2D CAD tools.
• Select suitable materials and components for mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Design and develop process machinery, special‑purpose machines and ensure compliance with UK and international safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on mechanical design experience within engineering industries.
• HND/HNC or degree in Mechanical/Electro‑mechanical engineering (BEng, MEng, etc.).
• Full UK driving licence and passport for occasional travel to European and international sites.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or other CAD packages such as AutoCAD).
• CNC and CAM knowledge (desirable).
• Experience with machinery design, process equipment and awareness of safety standards.
• Ability to produce P&IDs, BOMs and detailed drawings.
