Design Manager – Northern Ireland (Travel to Bath)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead design and technical delivery on a major education project based in Bath, while being based in Northern Ireland. You will report to the Regional Design Manager and act as a key member of the Building Division’s project delivery team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tender submissions.
• Work closely with tender and project teams to align design expectations.
• Develop and maintain design programmes and integrate them into the overall project schedule.
• Carry out designer duties for pre‑construction activities in line with CDM Regulations.
• Provide expert design input for tender submissions and technical guidance throughout project stages.
• Coordinate temporary works design requirements and manage the flow of design information between parties.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Extensive design management experience within the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
• Strong ability to manage the full design lifecycle from tender to delivery.
• Excellent technical understanding of construction methodologies, buildability and regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional organisation, multitasking and time‑management skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
