Digital Communications & Events Officer (Contract)

About the role

This contract position supports a leading education and research organisation during a website development phase and provides cover for the communications team. You will maintain and optimise the digital estate while also delivering internal and external communications and supporting both virtual and face‑to‑face events.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update websites using Drupal CMS, rebuild pages and ensure consistency across the digital estate.
• Monitor website performance with analytics tools, implement improvements and guarantee GDPR and accessibility compliance.
• Prepare, proofread and distribute internal and external communications, track engagement and report on performance.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for virtual and in‑person events, coordinate event communications and conduct post‑event evaluations.
• Build effective relationships with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging.

Required profile

• Previous experience in communications, marketing, digital or web‑content roles.
• Proven experience using a web content management system, preferably Drupal (versions 7–10).
• Experience supporting or coordinating events in a professional or voluntary capacity.
• Ability to use website analytics and user feedback to drive improvements.
• Strong understanding of GDPR, accessibility requirements and digital compliance standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organisational abilities.
