Director of DevOps

About the role

Our client, a leading engineering organisation in the UK, is seeking a Director of DevOps to drive the scaling and modernisation of engineering productivity, automation and infrastructure across complex software and hardware development environments. The role will shape the DevOps strategy, support globally distributed teams and enable next‑generation compute, graphics, AI and embedded platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the engineering infrastructure and DevOps strategy for the organisation.
• Lead CI/CD, build, validation and release initiatives across large‑scale engineering projects.
• Improve developer productivity, engineering velocity and automation maturity.
• Provide scalable tooling and platforms for globally distributed software and hardware teams.
• Champion modern platform engineering, developer enablement and AI‑assisted workflows.
• Enhance infrastructure scalability, reliability, release quality and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with software, architecture, verification and infrastructure teams to establish best practices.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in DevOps, platform engineering or engineering infrastructure.
• Track record of improving engineering productivity and CI/CD maturity in complex R&D environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills across distributed teams.
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands‑on with technical implementation.
