Director of Risk Management, Commercial & New Payment Flows

About the role

The Commercial & New Payment Flows (CNPF) Risk Management team is a first‑line function supporting fast‑growing businesses across Mastercard. As Director, you will shape, build and embed the CNPF risk management framework, working closely with senior leaders to drive risk transformation and ensure sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve CNPF’s first‑line risk management framework aligned with enterprise methodologies.
• Lead risk transformation initiatives, including operating model design, governance enhancements, RCSA processes, and capability uplift.
• Own the end‑to‑end risk management cycle for assigned portfolio areas: identification, assessment, control design, assurance, issue management and monitoring.
• Prepare and deliver executive‑level risk reporting, highlighting key risks, trends and trade‑offs.
• Act as a trusted risk advisor to senior leaders, proactively identifying emerging risks and supporting informed decision‑making.
• Manage risk governance forums, ensuring engagement, accountability and timely escalation of material risks.
• Coordinate complex cross‑functional risk engagements with 2nd Line Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology and other specialist teams.
• Coach risk owners and business teams to build sustainable risk ownership and maturity.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in risk management within financial services or payments.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive risk‑focused change.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with experience presenting to executive audiences.
• Demonstrated track record of leading risk governance and transformation initiatives.
