Director of Transformation

About the role

The Director of Transformation will shape and drive the Ministry of Justice’s transformation agenda across the department and its agencies. Reporting to the DG Justice Services and Transformation, you will set strategic direction, modernise ways of working and ensure that change delivers measurable benefits for users, staff and taxpayers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and align the strategic direction for transformation with departmental priorities and ministerial objectives.
• Lead, govern and assure delivery of a coherent transformation programme and portfolio.
• Modernise ways of working, establishing standards for service ownership, product approaches and multidisciplinary teams.
• Build trusted relationships with senior policy, operational and functional leaders and provide challenge and advice on programmes.
• Collaborate with Cabinet Office and DSIT to align MoJ programmes with wider government initiatives.
• Ensure transformation delivers measurable benefits, improved outcomes and value for money.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale transformation in a complex environment.
• Track record of delivering measurable improvements in operations, customer experience and value for money.
• Strong background in digital, data and product‑enabled change, including the application of AI technologies.
• Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to create high‑performing, inclusive teams focused on continuous improvement.
