Director - RFP Leader

About the role

Howden Re, a Big 4 global reinsurance broker, is looking for a Director - RFP Leader to build its RFP process and proposition from the ground up. This is a global role based in London, working closely with colleagues across the business and with the Markets and Marketing teams. The successful candidate will lead the identification, capture, management and triage of opportunities, and the project management of RFP responses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a clear RFP process and governance framework.
• Be accountable for identifying, capturing, managing and triaging all relevant opportunities.
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders on bid/no-bid decisions, strategic fit and tender response propositions.
• Manage RFP projects from pre-invitation through to post-decision, with broking account executives, to maximise win probability and spread best practice.
• Create high-quality RFP collateral, including a best-in-class RFP library.
• Design and implement a post-tender review process for wins and losses to capture learning.
• Implement technology to drive innovation across the RFP process.
• Build a team (in-house and outsourced as needed) covering design, proofreading, storytelling and project management, embedded in the reinsurance business and production lifecycle.
• Design RFP training and education to develop RFP champions across the business.

Required profile

• Has held a senior RFP role in the (re)insurance sector.
• Re/insurance industry expert with a clear understanding of evolving client needs.
• Collaborative, able to build relationships in a matrixed environment and to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experienced leading RFP processes across a variety of audiences.
• Comfortable engaging with broking, analytics, operations and leadership, and excited by a fast-paced environment.
