Domiciliary Optometrist – Care Home Specialist

About the role

Join an innovative domiciliary eye‑care provider delivering high‑quality eye examinations in care homes across the South East. You will work independently with a trained Optical Assistant, using portable technology to provide compassionate, patient‑focused eye care for older and vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations within care homes.
• Perform refraction and ophthalmoscopy to assess vision and ocular health.
• Identify vision changes, recommend appropriate eyewear, and arrange referrals for pathology.
• Support patients with anxiety or communication difficulties.
• Maintain accurate, paperless clinical records.
• Collaborate closely with an Optical Assistant to run commercially successful clinics.
• Ensure patient best interests are always prioritised.

Required profile

• GOC‑registered Optometrist.
• Confident in refraction and ophthalmoscopy.
• Compassionate and comfortable working with older, vulnerable people.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage own time.
• Commercially aware without compromising clinical integrity.
• Proficient with technology and paperless systems.
• Excellent communicator and team player.
• Open to a domiciliary care model; previous experience helpful but not essential.

What we offer

• Basic salary of approximately £65,000 FTE.
• Potential total earnings of £82,000–£100,000 including performance‑related pay.
