Mobile Optical Assistant – Guildford/West London

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join a progressive domiciliary eyecare provider delivering high‑quality services to care homes across Guildford and West London. You will run mobile clinics alongside an Optometrist, manage deliveries, fittings and after‑care, and ensure every patient enjoys a calm, comfortable, and professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and set up mobile optical clinics.
• Liaise with care‑home managers and staff.
• Welcome patients, providing reassurance and support, especially for those with dementia.
• Complete pre‑screening and delegated clinical tasks.
• Hand over accurate information to the Optometrist.
• Discuss frames, lenses and coatings based on genuine patient needs.
• Perform measurements, fittings, deliveries and after‑care.
• Maintain accurate records using a paperless system.
• Care for clinical equipment and ensure efficient clinic operation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an optical setting.
• Exceptionally organised, reliable and able to manage changing priorities.
• Warm, confident with patients, especially older and vulnerable individuals.
• Commercially aware without pressure‑selling.
• Comfortable using technology and paperless systems.
• Coachable, proactive and willing to work hard.
• Valid manual driving licence meeting company insurance requirements.

Required skills

What we offer

• Basic salary £29,000–£30,000 per year.
• Potential total earnings of £37,000–£49,000 including incentives.
• Fully funded training (2‑3 weeks) in Glasgow with accommodation and expenses covered.
• One week of shadowing in your local area before taking full responsibility.
• Permanent contract with regular Monday‑to‑Friday hours.
