Drama Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Drama Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEN school in Lewisham. The role involves supporting a diverse group of pupils aged 5‑11 with moderate to severe learning disabilities, using drama and creative activities to enhance their learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Drama teacher in delivering lessons and managing the drama room.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a safe, nurturing environment.
• Support pupils with communication, behavioural, physical and emotional needs during drama activities.
• Help adapt drama resources to suit a wide range of abilities and learning styles.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have special educational needs (ASC, MLD, SLD).
• Previous role as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar.
• Enthusiastic, positive and friendly attitude.
• Willingness to provide personal care for pupils when required.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of drama and acting techniques.
• Understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive teaching methods.
