About the role
Our client is seeking a recently qualified Duty Solicitor to join their busy Criminal Justice Department in Hartlepool. You will work across both the Magistrates Court and local police stations, providing essential legal support to the team.
Key responsibilities
- Represent clients in Magistrates Court hearings.
- Attend police stations to provide advice and representation.
- Prepare legal documents, briefs, and case files.
- Collaborate with senior solicitors and support staff to ensure case progress.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to court deadlines.
Required profile
- Recently qualified solicitor with a practising certificate.
- Strong knowledge of criminal law and court procedures.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team.

What we offer
- Competitive salary (£25,000‑£35,000 per year, dependent on experience).
- Company pension scheme.
- 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after five years, plus bank holidays.
- Full‑time, permanent contract.
- On‑site work in Hartlepool.
