Duty Solicitor – Management Progression (Hartlepool)

About the role
The firm is seeking a Duty Solicitor to join its busy Criminal Justice Department in Hartlepool. You will represent clients at police stations, magistrates' courts and occasional Crown Courts, with a clear pathway towards departmental management and partnership.
Key responsibilities
- Provide on‑the‑spot legal advice and representation to clients in police stations.
- Appear in magistrates' courts and selected Crown Courts on behalf of clients.
- Assist with case preparation, documentation and liaising with court officials.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the department and support senior management initiatives.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor with Higher Rights or a willingness to work towards them.
- Experience in criminal law practice, preferably with exposure to police and court work.
- Commitment to long‑term career progression within the firm.
