EAL Learning Support Assistant (Full‑Time, Sep 2026 start)

About the role
This full‑time position supports a secondary school in Brent, helping pupils who speak English as an additional language to thrive academically and socially. The role begins in September 2026 and is ideal for graduates, linguistics students or anyone interested in a career in education, SEN support or pastoral care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for EAL learners across the curriculum.
- Assist with developing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
- Adapt classroom materials to make lessons more accessible.
- Work with teachers to implement targeted language‑support strategies.
- Encourage confidence, independence and integration of EAL students into school life.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to staff.
- Support pastoral and inclusion teams as required.
Required profile
- A degree or relevant experience working with young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Interest in language development and EAL support.
- Patience, resilience and a proactive, positive attitude.
- Ability to build constructive relationships with students and staff.
Required skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
- Organisational skills for tracking progress and adapting resources.
