Ecologist – Protected Species & Botanical Surveys

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Ecologist to join an ecological consultancy based in Winchester. The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of projects for both public and private sector clients, contributing to the protection of wildlife and the delivery of high‑quality ecological assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct protected species surveys and botanical surveys across various habitats.
• Prepare ecological reports, including Phase Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRAs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs).
• Liaise with clients, project managers and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Develop fee proposals and contribute to project budgeting.

Required profile

• Passion for the natural environment and a commitment to sustainable practice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written communication skills for report production.
