Education Lawyer – Specialist Solicitor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Education Lawyer to join the specialist Education Law Team at Richard Nelson LLP. The role offers a hybrid working model based in Nottingham with the flexibility to work remotely, handling a broad spectrum of education‑related legal matters for teachers, students, parents and educational institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload across primary & secondary schools, SEN/EHCP, and university matters.
• Conduct admissions appeals, exclusion cases, contractual disputes and EHCP applications.
• Represent clients in sexual allegation investigations, visa applications and fitness‑to‑practice proceedings.
• Maintain accurate time‑recording and cost‑effective work practices.
• Contribute to business development and promotion of the firm’s education law services.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in education law and regulatory guidance.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with proven experience in education law.
• Strong case‑management skills and ability to handle complex, multi‑stakeholder issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with a client‑focused approach.
• Willingness to develop professionally and share knowledge within the team.
