Education Solicitor – Specialist Education Law

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Education Solicitor to join the specialist Education Law Team at Richard Nelson LLP. The role involves providing expert legal advice and representation to teachers, students, parents and educational institutions across a wide range of matters. You will work in a hybrid setting, based in Nottingham with the option to work remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload covering primary and secondary school admissions, exclusions, independent school disputes, SEN/EHCP matters, and university student issues.
• Conduct case management from initial advice through to resolution, ensuring compliance with firm policies and cost‑effective practice.
• Act as advocate for clients in hearings, tribunals and negotiations with educational authorities, trusts and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain accurate time‑recording and utilise IT systems to support efficient service delivery.
• Contribute to business development and promote the firm’s education law services.
• Stay up‑to‑date with developments in education law and share knowledge with the team.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in education law.
• Proven ability to handle complex cases involving schools, trusts and regulatory bodies.
• Strong analytical and case‑management skills.
• Commitment to high professional standards and client‑focused service.
• Willingness to engage in business development and continuous learning.
