Electrical Engineer – Council Infrastructure

About the role

The Council is seeking a permanent Electrical Engineer to provide technical expertise, design, maintenance oversight and compliance support for its property portfolio. The role will lead the development of safe, low‑carbon, cost‑effective M&E solutions aligned with the Council’s climate commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and oversee electrical engineering solutions across the managed estate.
• Lead the delivery of low‑carbon electrical systems and modernise existing infrastructure.
• Provide contract administration, site inspections and regular reporting for external contractors.
• Produce CAD drawings, feasibility studies, condition surveys and detailed specifications.
• Manage budgets, cost estimates and ensure statutory compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with stakeholders, including elected members and public‑sector partners.

Required profile

• Qualified electrical engineer with relevant experience in public‑sector projects.
• Proven ability to lead design and delivery of electrical systems.
• Experience managing contracts and external contractors.
• Strong analytical skills for feasibility and condition assessments.
