Electrical Maintenance Technician (Shift)

About the role

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a busy, fast‑paced operations team at a large‑scale processing facility in West Sussex. The role is essential for maintaining plant performance and ensuring maximum availability through both proactive and reactive maintenance, working on a rotating 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond efficiently to breakdowns.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults across a range of plant equipment.
• Work on components such as sensors, relays, contactors, control panels, AC/DC motors and motor control centres (MCCs).
• Maintain and fault‑find PLC systems, preferably Siemens S7.
• Support ongoing engineering projects and process improvements.
• Uphold high standards of health & safety, compliance and housekeeping.
• Report incidents, near‑misses and hazards promptly.
• Interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Work with controls and instrumentation systems (pressure, temperature, flow).

Required profile

• Qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (HNC or equivalent).
• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or automated environment.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Good understanding of electrical systems, controls and PLC hardware.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a shift team.
• 18th Edition (BS7671) knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
