Electrical Plant Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Plant Technician to join Air Products’ Industrial Gases Business at our Didcot facility and supporting satellite sites across South East England. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will help ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of production plants.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Plant Manager’s representative in their absence and serve as the on‑site Air Products contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Work with the operating team to guarantee safe, efficient and reliable plant operation.
• Maintain responsibility for safety, health, quality, environmental compliance, site security and mechanical maintenance.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance and shutdown activities.
• Share responsibility for local operation optimisation, productivity and best practice.
• Provide out‑of‑hours assistance for plant and satellite emergencies on a call‑out basis.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and resolve mechanical or process breakdowns.
• Manage spare‑parts stock and equipment locations using SAP.
• Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks (SAP, CREDO, plant logs) in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Level 3 external qualification in Electrical Engineering or a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• Strong safety mindset with a focus on operating practices.
• Good interpersonal, team‑working and customer‑facing communication skills.
• Proactive, self‑motivated attitude with a positive approach to delivering results.
• Ability to work independently when required.

Required skills

• Electrical engineering knowledge and experience with electrical equipment on production sites.
• Ability to read and create technical documentation.
• Proficiency in SAP for stock and record management.
• Familiarity with CREDO system for plant logging.
