Electronic Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electronic Engineer to join our multidisciplinary design team in Carlisle. You will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from concept and schematic design through prototyping, testing and final commissioning of electronic and embedded systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers to develop analogue and digital circuitry and embedded solutions.
• Create and test electrical schematics and printed circuit board layouts.
• Build prototypes, diagnose and resolve issues on new and existing designs.
• Develop and support firmware for micro‑processors such as PIC, AVR and ARM devices.
• Produce technical documentation for internal teams, suppliers and customers.
• Provide occasional support for customer training, demonstrations and technical enquiries.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in electronic engineering and proven experience in the field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication, time‑management and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft 365/Office suite.

Required skills

• Analogue circuitry, amplifiers, signal conditioning, analog‑to‑digital conversion, digital logic and power supplies.
• Electronic schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
• Embedded micro‑processors (PIC, AVR, ARM) and firmware development in C or C++.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as RS232/RS485, SPI, I2C, Ethernet and USB.
• Understanding of high‑speed digital design, FPGAs, memory devices and clock buffers.
• Experience designing for reduced EMI and compliance requirements.
