Energy Officer - Data and Renewables

About the role

We are seeking an Energy Officer – Data and Renewables to join Buckinghamshire Council’s Energy Management team. In this role you will support the delivery of renewable energy and low‑carbon technology programmes while ensuring the council’s energy data platform remains accurate and actionable.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain onsite renewable energy assets, including solar PV and biomass systems.
• Collect, validate and manage energy data across the council’s portfolio using the energy data platform.
• Monitor energy performance, produce reports and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Support the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives and carbon‑reduction projects.
• Collaborate with estates, procurement and external partners to ensure reliable, cost‑effective energy supply.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in managing renewable energy assets or energy data within a public or large‑scale organisation.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to the council’s sustainability objectives and public service ethos.
