Engineering Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist packaging and building products manufacturer near Halesowen, is expanding its engineering capacity following a major investment in state‑of‑the‑art machinery. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function within their manufacturing plant, combining hands‑on technical work with people leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, develop and manage a team of engineers.
• Plan and oversee maintenance, engineering projects and health & safety compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement and reliability of automated machinery.
• Manage budgets, schedules and performance metrics (PPM systems).
• Act as the primary point of contact for plant engineering matters.

Required profile

• Completed a full apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Previous experience supervising or managing engineering staff in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership style, able to lead from the front.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Automated machinery operation and maintenance.
• Proficiency with PPM (parts‑per‑million) quality systems.
• Electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Mechanical engineering fundamentals.

What we offer

• Salary £41,000 – £45,000 per year.
