Engineering Manager (Manufacturing)

About the role

Planet Recruitment is partnering with an innovative manufacturing organisation in Abingdon to find an Engineering Manager for their Production Engineering department. You will lead a skilled team, drive continuous‑improvement projects and provide technical support across multiple business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily activities of the Production Engineering team, setting priorities and allocating workloads.
• Collaborate with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and investigate line rejects.
• Support change‑control processes, software system testing and new product introductions.
• Drive lean manufacturing, cost‑reduction and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Work with purchasing and sourcing on sample approvals, supplier validation and occasional site visits.
• Mentor and develop team members, enhancing skills and performance.
• Manage product lifecycle activities, including component obsolescence and quality improvements.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams on investigations, corrective and preventive actions.

Required profile

• Degree or HNC in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience in design, manufacturing or production engineering.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and change‑management experience.
